USER GUIDE

When you see the very rapid return on investment, it is easy to understand why everyone wants to have e-mail marketing in his media plan. However, the investment required in terms of human and technical resources to bring such an operation to market is not trivial. That is why we have created POPLIST.FR, which provides you with all the necessary technical requirements to mount your e-mail marketing campaigns, using a simple-to-use web interface. This user guide explains the way poplist works and its main functions. Below you will find a more detailed user guide to download.

1 . Importing your list
You have been using another mailing service before joining PoPList ?
You will first of all need to import the list of your subscribers. To do this, you need to have available a list of all their email addresses. This list must be in raw text form (ASCII), comprising one address per line, without separators. When the list is ready, you simply need to load the file (see the button 'load' in the control panel of your list).

2. Enable your visitors to subscribe
This is probably the most important step for integrating PoPList into your working environment. The people who visit the site can subscribe using an HTML form found on your site. For this, simply go to the HTML Codes page (accessible from the control panel) to choose the type of form that you wish to incorporate. Once you have chosen this, just copy and paste the HTML code into your HTML pages.

3. Downloading your subscriber list
The DOWNLOAD function enables you to download your subscriber list at any time. This listing contains all the active subscribers at the time you make the request. It is generated in real time.

4. Send a mailing to your subscribers
To send a mailing to your subscribers, you need to go into your private space in PoPList using your id and password. PoPList enables you to manage several lists using the same account. Choose the list to which you wish to send the message. Click on MANAGE. When you are in the control panel, click on WRITE.
Complete the fields FROM - Validation Email - Subject - TEXTE Message or HTML Message
FROM : indicate your name
Validation Email : indicate your email address. If your navigator does not accept pop-ups (windows which open automatically, allowing you a preview of your message), you will receive two messages at the email address that you have indicated :
- 1 message for a preview
- 1 instruction message to Validate, Correct or Cancel your message
Subject : specify the subject of your message
TEXTE message : specify your message in TEXTE format, without colors, no underlining, no characters in bold nor in italics, no pictures, etc
HTML message: click on browse(search) and select your html file.

Once you have created your message, a preview window opens automatically for you to see and read the message your subscribers will receive. You are able to change it if you are not happy with it. If you are happy with the message, you need to confirm sending.
If the preview window does not open, you can ask to receive the preview message by mail (see Validation Email, above).

5. Welcome and sign-off messages :
This message is automatically included in all messages of confirmation of registration/deregistration sent to your subscribers. You can personalize it as much as you like.

ABOUT SPAM

What is spam ?
'Spam' is defined as the sending of unsolicited mass mailings. This widespread practice uses the formidable power of Internet, especially its very low cost for sending e-mails, to 'flood' millions of electronic in-baskets with unsolicited messages. The extremely low rate of return seems, nevertheless, to be sufficient to make this sort of practice profitable, but these campaigns are generally the work of organizations seeking to do a quick 'deal' and not very concerned about their image. Poplist is firmly opposed to these practices which harm the image of Internet and which constitute an invasion of privacy for those who surf the web, by imposing on them unsolicited messages often of a commercial or propaganda nature.

Why is Poplist not spamming ?
All the addresses in the Poplist system are there by opting-in. The users have all voluntarily subscribed to one of the mailing lists that we manage. To be sure of the voluntary nature of their subscription, they receive a confirmatory e-mail which validates their subscription only if they clicked on the confirmation link in the e-mail.
It is also possible for them to remove their registration at any time using the direct link to be found in all the e-mails they receive from our system.
